ANNUAL REPORT TO THE FRIENDS OF HOLY INNOCENTS CHURCH, LAMARSH FOR THE YEAR 2003
Registered Charity No 1088711

We have had another successful year, but inevitably it was unlikely that we would receive so many large "one off" donations as in 2002. We have Banker's Orders from twenty one families/people giving an annualised income of some £3,400. The list of donors continues to increase. We recovered over £1,000 from the Inland Revenue under the Gift Aid scheme.

In last year's report we mentioned that we were committed to pay for the repairs to the West roof and various external plaster work. This cost some £1800.

Our other large expenditure was to install a sound system to enhance the output from the organ, which could not always be heard, and provide a system to amplify music at concerts. This has proved very successful. The cost was £1,487. At some future stage the system will have to be upgraded to include a loop for the hard of hearing which will become a requirement for all places open to the public.

We are committed to pay for repairs identified as being necessary in the quinquennial review. These will total some £2500.

I am currently in touch with a Bell Restorer who has quoted to repair and re-hang the bell, which is in a poor state. All works have to be approved by English Heritage with who I am in correspondence with a view to getting the work under way within the next 18 months. I will need to approach various Charitable Organisations to raise the money which is likely to be around £15,000.

Our Church web-site was visited by over 1,700 people last year. They looked at over 5,000 pages between them. Do take a look! www.lamarshchurch.org.uk . It has reports on Church and Village activities.

The Trustees met to approve last year's accounts and twice to approve and consider items of major expenditure.

In accordance with the Constitution two members of the Management of the Friends shall retire at each AGM. Accordingly Robert Erith is offering to retire but has put his name forward for re-election at the AGM. Gay Foord has indicated that she wishes to resign and Patrick Cooper has kindly offered to fill her place, subject to being elected at the AGM. My thanks go to Gay Foord for her contribution to our setting up and our work so far.
